Virtual Doula

What is a Virtual Doula?

A virtual doula is a labor coach who offers emotional and educational support to parents through video conferencing as well as through telephone calls, chats, and text messages. In today’s world, many parents prefer virtual communication because it saves time and money while ensuring support and relationship development.

Furthermore, studies have indicated that virtual doula care results in outcomes similar to in-person care, with a notable reduction in cesarean births and increased satisfaction with a woman’s childbirth experience.

Why Hire a Virtual Doula?

  1. You may live in a remote or area with no doulas nearby.
  2. Maybe there are plenty of doulas nearby, but you would prefer to work with someone else!
  3. There may be hospital restrictions limiting the number of people in the room.
  4. Some folks are more private than others and prefer to access doula support virtually.

Virtual Doula Services

Having attended over 900 births as a midwife, I am exceptionally well-positioned to provide doula support to mothers and parents. My services include virtual prenatal, birth, and postpartum coaching and support. I am there to provide guidance, reassurance, and answer questions throughout your pregnancy and birth journey. I am also able to virtually train someone of your choice to be your doula and support during your labor. Please contact me by your fifth month. This gives us enough time to develop a trusting relationship through education, planning, and getting to know one another.

Free Consultation

The free consultation starts with filling out the information in the Mobile Doula Client Portal, a secure electronic health record. If you are using an IPad/Mac, you will be asked to install the Mobile Doula App. Once you are signed on, there is no payment obligation – it is a way to get to know you and start the conversation. All information is confidential! After I receive your information, I will contact you to set up a 20-minute free video consultation.

4 Prenatal Visits

Visits and Education

I am a firm believer in the value of education, which is why I include childbirth education in your prenatal visits with me. At each visit, we will cover a section of my book, “Navigating Your Birth: A Complete Childbirth Preparation Guide,” which is over 200 pages long and divided into four PDF files for download. Additionally, at the end of each visit, we will dive deep into birth planning, identifying your preferences, choices, and any concerns or questions you have. The main topics covered include:

Visit One: Birth tools, your birth team, breathing and relaxation techniques.

Visit Two: Birth anatomy and  prenatal exercise.

Visit Three: The labor and birth process and birth positions.

Visit Four: Birth intervention, the third stage of labor, your baby’s new world.
