Usage and Permissions

Birth Work Designs makes it possible for you to use different licensing and permission to help your business grow. 

Terms:

Commercial Service: A commercial service is any service that a business owner is paid for by a client, which might include one or multiple services.

Non-Exclusive License: A non-exclusive license gives one person the right to use the artwork but does not restrict others from licensing it as well.

Licenses and Permissions: Licenses are permissions given by the copyright holder (Birth Work Designs) for their content. Copyright is still held by the creator (Birth Work Designs), but the creator allows others to use their work under certain conditions, depending on which license you purchase. 

Choosing a Licensing Use 

We offer solo and multiple-use licenses, described below. Birth Work Designs has worked very hard to make these graphics available. When purchasing a product, please select the licensing use that fits your business or student description.

    Solo Business or Practice

    SOLO USE LICENSING

    All solo practices offering one service fall under the Solo Use License. 

    • One Commercial Service/One Employee: This license can be used by one person or business owner offering one service. For example, ABC Doula Service is one business owner offering doula services.
    • One Commercial Service in Collective or Agency: Each solo individual selling one service in a Collective or Agency is considered a separate service. For example, a doula working in the ABC Doula Collective or Agency is considered an independent service. Other individuals in the Collective or Agency do not have rights to the material – only the individual person offering one commercial service.

    Multiple or Group Businesses

    MULTIPLE USE LICENSING

    All businesses or practices offering multiple commercial services, operating as a group, collective or agency, or having more than one employee fall under the Multiple Use License.

    • Multiple Commercial Services/One Employee: This license can be used by one person or business owner offering several services. For example, ABC Doula Service is one business owner offering doula services, lactation consultation, and childbirth education services.
    • Multiple Commercial Services/More than One Employee or Group: All businesses offering one or multiple services with more than one employee or practicing as a group fall under the Extra Use License. Employees do not have rights to the material – only the business owner. 
    • Multiple Commercial Services in Collective or Agency: When working in a collective or agency, this license can be used by one person offering several services. For example, an individual in ABC Doula Collective offers doula services, lactation consultation, and childbirth education services. Other individuals in the Collective or Agency do not have rights to the material – only the individual person offering commercial services.

    Student Midwives

    LICENSE FEE REDUCED

    APPLIES TO MIDWIFERY INFORMED CONSENTS AND PAPER CHARTS FOR MIDWIVES ONLY.

    The license use fee is significantly reduced for student midwives. I know you are already working hard, and I want to make midwifery informed consents and paper charts available to you at an affordable price. Please take advantage of this opportunity while you are still a student. Once you start or become part of a practice, the discount will not apply.

    Consumers

    NO LICENSING FEES

    APPLIES TO CREATIVE ACTIVITY CARDS ONLY.

    The creative activity cards are available to anyone who chooses to purchase them without a licensing fee.

    Prohibited Use

    Please adhere to the following:

    • May not sell materials on their own or in any guide, packet, book, manual, booklet, etc.
    • No license allows you to place materials you have purchased in a new product you are offering for sale.
    • May not send printed or digital copies to any professional, friend, colleague, or others who do not own a license to use them in their business.
    • May not be shared among multiple business owners. Each business must purchase a license.
    • May not transfer licenses. Any individual using Birth Work Designs material must own a license.
